“Running, walking, and meditation are very personal activities. Therefore they may seem lonely. This loneliness is one of their best qualities because it allows us to look inwards and evaluate and strengthens our incentive to motivate ourselves.”
― Sakyong Mipham, Running with the Mind of Meditation: Lessons for Training Body and Mind
Mahmudah Institute is proud to present Mindful Running and Walking, to promote wellness in the community! During the Mindful Running and Walking event we will be learning about how to run and walk in a healthy manner.
Mindful Running and Walking incorporates Chi Running, a form of running influenced by t’ai chi, and a mindfulness of the Divine by treating his Creation internally (our body & spirit) and externally (external creations we encounter) with respect and care.
Chi running and walking is built around the concept of falling forward in a slight lean so that you’re using the pull of gravity for your running propulsion instead of your legs. Building a strong core increases agility; efficiency and your ability to balance yourself in a gentle forward fall while running or walking. The rotatory movement of the spinal bones is gentled to the minimum as necessary, in chi running or walking.
Using these techniques will promote a healthy, injury free habit of running and walking. In addition at the spiritual level the positivity of the environment will instill peace internally and make a simple walk a healing and happy walk or run.
Come and join us to take the next step!
